Important Notice for Distance Studies Students

Distance Studies Course/Instructor Evaluation


As part of Western’s standard evaluation process, Distance Studies course evaluations for online courses are completed on the web.  A link to an evaluation will be sent to each student three weeks prior to the final examination period.


Students will require their Western username and password to access the course evaluation.

Please Note: Answers to the Course Evaluation will be used as feedback to the instructor and as a source of information considered in decisions regarding promotion and tenure.  Individual responses remain anonymous and statistical summaries of this survey will not be released to the instructor until final grades have been submitted to the Registrar.


Detailed Instructions for students:


  1. To access the evaluation click the link provided in your email (the email will have a  subject line beginning with “Online Course Evaluation”).


  1. If you are not already logged into OWL, you will be asked for your username and password.  If your email address is, your username is jdoe (do not include  Your password is the same password you use to access your UWO email account.  Remember - Your password is case sensitive! 


  1. Once logged in you will be able to begin and complete the evaluation.  If there are multiple instructors for your course, you will have a separate set of instructor questions for each instructor.


 Getting Assistance:


If you are experiencing difficulties accessing or completing your course evaluation, please review the following common problems.


“I did not receive the email”

Try looking in your SPAM folder or log into to see if the message has been filtered there.


“I receive an error about invalid username or password.”
