Fee Payment Methods from an International Bank

Please note: If you wish to pay your tuition fees by debit in Student Central we are only able to process debit cards issued by Canadian banks. The University of Western Ontario does not accept cash, Internet e-mail money transfers or credit cards for tuition payments.

Note: Western does not accept credit cards for the payment of tuition or residence fees.  Any company or organization that offers the opportunity to pay fees by credit card is not associated with Western.  If you choose to use such a service, you should be aware that:

      •    You will remain responsible for all fees should for any reason the fees payment not be processed;
      •    You will be paying a fee to the company over and above Western’s fees;
      •    You will be required to provide personal information, including your student number, to the company.

Western does not encourage the use of third party payment services.

Tuition payment deadlines are available on the statement of account.  Payments must be received in our office by the due date on your online statement of account or a late payment penalty will be assessed.

See the Online Tuition Account for late payment charge details and details on your account.

New Payment Option: Western Union Bank-to-Bank Transfer (pdf).

When you use Western Union Bank-to-Bank Transfer:

  • You make your payment in the currency of your choice which Western Union will then convert to Canadian Dollars.
  • There are no transaction charges from Western Union or The University of Western Ontario, though you may be charged a transaction fee by your bank.
  • The exchange rate is valid for 72 hours after you have initiated the transaction if your confirmation and payment is received by Western Union within that period.
  • The exchange rate is competitive when compared to retail rates of your financial institution and for many students their bank service fees are also reduced because the transaction is being initiated as a local transfer.
  • Payments received will include your reference information and will ensure that your payment reaches your student account quickly.
