External Awards

The following scholarships, bursaries and awards are offered by external organizations. The University's role is only to advertise the existence of these awards to the University Community. Inquiries regarding these awards should be made by contacting the organization through the links provided.

Note: Provided here are only those external scholarships, bursaries and awards with a value of $4,000 and above. External scholarships, bursaries and awards valued at less than $4,000 are posted on the Scholarship Bulletin board across from the Financial Aid Office (Room 1100, Western Student Services Building).


Scholarship Name: Hilary M. Weston Scholarship

Value: two scholarships at $7,500

Field of Study: students who are, or plan to be, enrolled during the 2018-19 academic year in a graduate-level social work program.

Scholarship Name: Middlesex Law Association Scholarship

Value: $5,000

Field of Study: third year law students.

Application Deadline: December 22, 2017

Scholarship Name: Law Foundation Graduate Fellowships

Value: Up to four (4) awards of $15,000 each

Field of Study: full time graduate studies in law or law-related area.

Scholarship Name: Engineers Canada Scholarship Program

Value: Three scholarships valued at $12,500 and three scholarships valued at $7,500

Field of Study: Canadian professional engineers returning to university for further study or research in an engineering field.

Application Deadline: March 1, 2018

Scholarship Name: Loran Award

Value:  Each Loran award is valued at $100,000 including an annual stipend of $10,000 and tuition waiver from Western University, access to $10,000 in funding for summer internships, one-on-one mentorship and annual retreats and scholar gatherings.

Field of Study:  Full-time undergraduate studies in any program.  Students must apply in final year of high school or CEGEP.  

Application Deadline: mid-to-late October, annually.
