Postal Strike

Postal Strike

In the event the postal services across Canada are suspended on September 26, 2018, Western University will be unable to mail transcripts/Official Western Letters to a Canadian address via Canada Post.

Transcripts/Official Western Letters sent by courier will continue to be delivered without interruption. Transcripts/Official Western Letters sent via regular mail outside of Canada will not be interrupted.

The information below outlines alternate methods of ordering and delivering transcripts during a strike.

Courier Services – Western University uses FedEx courier services. Students can order and pay online through student.uwo.ca or by faxing a transcript order form or in person at Student Central.

Pickup – Students can order a transcript be held for pickup and pay online through student.uwo.ca or by faxing a transcript order form with the pickup option checked or they can order in person at Student Central and leave with the transcript.

Students can add a Release of Information to allow a third party (e.g. parent, spouse, friend) to order a transcript via fax or in person on their behalf. Once the release of information has been granted, the third party can fax a transcript order form with the pickup option checked or they can order in person at Student Central and leave with the transcript.

If you choose to send your transcript via Canada Post/Regular Mail, instead of one of the options above, please be advised that any mail addressed to Canadian addresses could potentially be caught in the system in the event of a strike.  If you require delivery in a timely manner, we recommend using the courier option during the postal strike.

Any transcript request ordered online after Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 8am (ET) for regular mail may be held until the postal strike is resolved.
