  October 30

Last date to add a first-term second quarter ('R') course (Kinesiology).

  * November 1

Last day to receive admission applications: Law for 2010.

Last day to receive official transcripts for courses taken on Letters of Permission during the academic year 2009-2010 and the Spring/Summer Terms of 2010.

Last day that students registered in 'W' accelerated language courses may transfer to the equivalent full-year course with the permission of their Faculty.

  November 6

Last date to drop a first-term second quarter ('R') course without academic penalty (Kinesiology).

  * November 30

Last day to drop a full course and full-year half course [on-campus day and evening and Distance Studies] without academic penalty.

  * December 1

Last day to receive admission applications: Dentistry for 2010.

Last day to receive admission applications, transcripts, and supporting documentation: Education for 2010. (If December 1st falls on a week-end or holiday, then the deadline date will be decided by the Association of Education Registrar's of Ontario)

  December 9

Classes end.

  December 10

Study Day.

 December 11 - 22

Mid-year examination period.

 December 23

First term ends for all Programs except Dentistry, Education, Law and Medicine.

Transit Strike Looming

With a potential transit strike looming on Monday, Western administration and the University Students' Council are strongly urging students, faculty and staff who normally take the bus to and from campus to make alternative transportation plans now.

Fall Preview Day Volunteer Opportunities

The Office of the Registrar is now recruiting student volunteers to help with Fall Preview Day on Saturday, November 21st, 2009.

Fall Preview Day is an annual event for prospective students and their families to visit the campus and find out more about our programs, meet with professors, staff and students and learn why Western offers the best student experience among Canada's leading research intensive universities.

2009 Academic Calendar
To lessen our impact on the environment, effective February 2009, the Office of the Registrar will only produce an online version of the Academic Calendar fosr students.

Benefits

What to do now

  • Use the web to see other publications, services and upcoming deadlines
  • If you would like to see a hard-copy, a limited number have been printed on recycled paper and are available at the Bookstore and for viewing at campus libraries

Application to vote for electors outside Québec
Electors who are temporarily absent from Québec, we encourage you to register as soon as possible for voting by mail, even before the calling of the elections, as once the election period has begun, you will only have a few days to submit your application to the Chief Electoral Officer. You will find the registration form at www.electionsquebec.qc.ca under ‘Voting Right’.

Student Services versus Student Center: Services Offered at each Website

Transcripts    The Office of the Registrar has implemented a new system for tracking transcript orders. It is available on the Student Center website and will allow students to see the status of their order(s) and when they were completed. To track a transcript(s):

  1. log in to the Student Center at http://student.uwo.ca
  2. click on Academic Records and then
  3. Official Transcript Status.

Important information regarding Spring Grades and Fall Program decisions

Important Notice: It is the practice of the University to disclose a student’s name, address, biographical data faculty, academic programs, and any other information needed to confirm a student recipient’s eligibility and receipt of a specific scholarship, award or bursary to the donor of the scholarship, award or bursary.

A student’s name, name of the scholarship, bursary or award, faculty and or program, year of study and any other any other information relevant to the scholarship, award or bursary may also be included in publications prepared for donors that list recipients of donor-funded scholarships, awards and bursaries. Such publications will not include any contact information or other identifying details.

Any such publications will be distributed to donors who supported students and may also be presented to the families of deceased donors, official donor contacts and selected potential donors to encourage gifts.

If you do not wish to be included in such publications, you must log in to the Student Services website https://studentservices.uwo.ca/secure/index.cfm  by May 30 of the relevant academic year.  Select “My Present,” and under the Financial Assistance heading, you will see “Recipient Report Click here to opt out.”  Your wishes will be honoured and your decision will in no way affect your eligibility to receive future scholarships, bursaries or need-based awards.   

Please note: The University of Western Ontario *never* sends e-mails requesting Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) or credit card information from applicants, potential applicants, students, or alumni. If you receive an e-mail requesting that you send this type of information back via e-mail to Western, do not respond to the e-mail.

In the event that the Office of the Registrar requires this type of information, we will provide you with a link that will direct you to our website where you will be asked to enter the required information.
